The Institution
The International Hippocratic Foundation of Kos (IHFK) is a Private Law Entity, with a nonprofit and international character. The foundation is a result of the initiative taken in 1960 by Spyridon Economou, Professor of Urology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
The objectives of the Foundation are achieved:
- a] with the construction of a Conference Center, a Hippocratic Library and the enrichment of the existing Hippocratic Museum
- b) by building from other states their own stands, intended for the institutional needs of the institutions and for the service of the non-state members of the Institutions
- c] with the continuous upgrading of the already existing Kos Hospital, so that it includes Clinics and Laboratories of all specialties
- d] in cooperation with Clinical and Laboratory Institutions and Organizations of the World (such as the World Health Organization, UNESCO, etc.)
- e] with the connection of the Institutions with the Medical Schools of the Hellenic and Foreign Universities, which have a history of Medicine.
