Importance of Literature and studying, a briefly reference to Ancient Greeks
Ancient Greeks emphasized on literature and learning (“Μελέτη το παν” Delphic Command) and according to many the whole Western literary tradition began there, with the epic poems of Homer and more.
Furthermore, Greeks produced masterpieces of tragedy, comedy, mathematics, geometry, poetry, mechanics, architecture and medicine.
The epic poems attributed to Homer are usually considered the first extant work of Western literature, and they remain giants in the literary canon for their skillful and vivid depictions of war and peace, honor and disgrace, love and hatred and medicine. There is much medical information available concerning physicians, diagnosis and treatment of trauma and diseases during the Trojan War.
The International Hippocratic Foundation of Kos enables the online review of digital archives concerning historical, medical themes. The online digital library is regularly updated, with related bibliography.
